Chapter XV Fall Pistol Raffle


SFA Chapter XV fundraising raffle of a FNX-45 Tactical FDE pistol has only 32 tickets remaining for sale. The pistol comes with a camel colored canvas carrier and three magazines. 1000 tickets have been printed and ticket sales will be conducted both on-line and in person through Chapter XV members. Tickets are $5 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20 in person and will include a small transaction fee if purchased online. Online ticket purchases will be filled out by hand and a picture of the ticket stub(s) with ticket number emailed to the purchaser. The raffle winner will be responsible for all FFL transfers and shipping.

Upcoming Internments of Special Forces Heroes


Master Sergeant Edgar Morales, a decorated veteran and dedicated public servant, passed away on November 22, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 86 years old. Born on May 17, 1938, in Guatemala City, Edgar was the beloved son of Judith A. Rodriguez Lopez and Jose Alberto Morales. His life was marked by extraordinary dedication to his country and family, leaving an indelible legacy in both military and civilian service.

Edgar’s military career was nothing short of distinguished. He proudly served in the United States Army, earning the Special Forces Green Beret. Three combat tours in Vietnam began in 1966 with the 101st Airborne Division. He served his second tour in 1967 with the 5th Special Forces Group, Project Delta (B-52) assigned to RECON. He returned for a third tour in 1969 serving with the Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies and Observation Group (MAC V SOG), and Command and Control Central (CCC), RECON Company assigned to Recon Team New Hampshire. Edgar then served with the 7thSpecial Forces Group, and as Senior Instructor in the Senior ROTC Program at San Jose State University, San Jose, California.

After retiring from the Army, Edgar transitioned to a civilian career in public service and retired from the U.S. Marshall’s Service after serving 20 years, then as Police Chief of Litchfield, Maine, as a Parole Commissioner on the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles and continued as a private security and business consultant.

Throughout his military and public service, he demonstrated unwavering commitment, bravery, and leadership, earning numerous commendations and honors to include the Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with V device, the Air Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and numerous other medals.

During his Army service, he met and married Rita A. Lebel Morales, a fellow soldier and Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Army Nurse. Together, they shared a life of mutual respect, love, and dedication to their respective missions.

Ed founded the Alamo Pachyderm Club in 2005 and served on the Board of Directors until his passing. President Emeritus Morales also served as Regional Director of the Grand Order of Pachyderm Clubs, was elected as a Precinct Chairman in Bexar County and was an elected Delegate for the Bexar County Republican Party. He will be missed as he is well known throughout the Republican Party. He was an active member of civic, political, military, religious organizations and active in his church.

Edgar is survived by his loving wife, Rita A. Morales; his brother, Jose Alberto Morales, Jr.; and numerous extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. His bravery, kindness, and unwavering devotion to both his country and his loved ones will be remembered by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at

Porter Loring Mortuary North.

Interment with full military honors will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Special Forces Association Chapter XV, John Lopez, Harold McBride, Paul Coleman, Santiago Sanchez, and Mike Brown, and Honorary Pallbearers Jeff Dahlby and Fred Solis. A reception will be held at VFW Post 8541, 2222 Austin Hwy., immediately following the burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Special Forces Association Chapter XV Education Fund (sfa-xv.org) in Edgar’s honor.

DISTINGUISHED MEMBER OF THE SPECIAL FORCES REGIMENT

Dr. (Col.) Warner D. Farr enlisted in the Airborne Infantry on April 23, 1967, and was assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He volunteered for service in Vietnam, and was assigned to Military Assistance Command-Vietnam Studies & Observation Group. In l971, he attended the Defense Language Institute then joined Detachment A, Berlin Brigade. He became an instructor at the ROTC Detachment, Northeast Louisiana University and completed his bachelor’s in medical technology. As a sergeant first class, he taught the 18D course and was selected for master sergeant. He attended the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and commissioned a second lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps. He was the distinguished honor graduate of his Army Flight Surgeon Course, and solo qualified in the TH-55 helicopter. He received his Doctor of Medicine in 1983 and completed residencies and board certifications in aerospace medicine, anatomic and clinical pathology.

Dr. Farr served as Commander, Company F, 3rd Battalion, Academy Brigade, Academy of Health Sciences; Course Director of the Special Operations Medical Sergeant Course and on the Infantry Team, Readiness Group at Fort Sam Houston advising the 12th Special Forces Group(A). He completed his master’s of public health at the University of Texas. He then served as Chief, Army Aviator Evaluation at the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, Brooks Air Force Base, Texas. From 1993 to 1995, he was Chief, Department of Pathology, Blanchfield Army Community Hospital and Flight Surgeon, 50th Medical Company (Air Ambulance), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Dr. Farr was the Division Surgeon, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York and Deputy Commander, U.S. Army Aeromedical Center and Lyster Army Hospital, Fort Rucker, Alabama, in 1997. He attended the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, receiving a master’s in strategic studies, before becoming the Deputy Chief of Staff, Surgeon, U.S. Army Special Operations Command; Command Surgeon, U.S. Army Special Forces Command and U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command. He was Command Surgeon of the U.S. Special Operations Command in Tampa, Florida in 2006 and in 2009 became Command Surgeon, Special Operations Command Central Command, headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, and Doha, Qatar. During his tenure as the command surgeon, he developed non-standard evacuation techniques for special operations patients in remote areas. As a member of the Department of Defense Tactical Combat Casualty Care Committee, he established training requirements for battlefield care and routinely conducted training for deploying medical personnel. He retired on May 1, 2013.

Dr. Farr is currently the Associate Clinical Professor of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Associate Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at the Bradenton, Florida campus of the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, America’s largest medical school. He remains active on the Department of Defense Tactical Combat Casualty Care Committee.

His military awards include the Combat Medical Badge with Star, Expert Infantryman Badge, Army Master Flight Surgeon Wings, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Scuba Badge, Special Forces Tab, Defense Superior Service Medal with oak-leaf cluster, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star for Valor with oak-leaf cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army MSM with five oak leaf clusters, Air Medal with 2 device, Joint Service and Army Commendation Medals, Good Conduct Medal with clasp and 4 loops, Presidential, Valorous, Meritorious and Joint Unit Citations, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and the U.S. Air Force Operational Excellence Unit Citation.

Dr. Farr has two children: Dr. David D. Farr, Judge Advocate, Texas Army National Guard who is also a county judge in Houston, and Lt. Col. Timothy A. Farr, USAF, Deputy J1, EUCOM, Stuttgart, Germany. He is married to Dr. Kathleen Dunn Farr, U.S. Army, Retired.


COL(R) Warner "Rocky" Farr will be laid to rest at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024.
